Insurgent Theatre Outreach
We have always pushed the boundaries of theatre production on all sides. We've welcomed newcomers to theatre into our casts, crews and audiences and we've also brought our theatre to them, in non-traditional theatre venues and on the street. This is what we do and as we grow we've realized that pushing these missions while producing solid challenging theatre necessitates diversification. Thus, we've developed two new initiatives.
To build a growing DIY theatre community: Insurgent Theatre Soup.
To assault theatre's boundaries: Insurgent Theatre Ambush.
We will continue to produce the kind of plays you've grown to expect from Insurgent Theatre, shows like: Made in the Mouth, Bring the War Home and Golden Apollo. If we're going to take over the world, we've got to meet the ruling establishment on every front. So, now you can also expect to see these new, focused efforts and specific missions.

a series of shows that focus on the recruitment and development of new talent in all aspects of theatre production. At least once a year we will be serving up a generous helping of diverse short plays. These plays will be produced by a wide variety of local writers, directors, and actors. Burgeoning new talent! Insurgent Theatre veterans! Allies from the broader theatre community! Mix them together, rehearse for four weeks and serve HOT!
various actions designed to answer the crisis of theatre's descending relevance as an art form and entertainment option. This is rough immediate theatre, breaking boundaries and redefining what theatre is and where it belongs in the world. Experimental processes, our theatre workshop, theatre on the street, theatre in art galleries, theatre in 24 hours, theatre hiding in the bushes like an army of the arts, ready to spring when you least expect it.
