Writer's Notes. Ben Turk
I wrote George and Claire, showed it to Tracy, and she hated me for a week. Well, at least a few days. It was a bad first draft. The point didn’t come across and it read like simple exploitation. A few months and quite a few drafts later, Tracy was saying it’s the best thing I’d ever written. The other one, Claire and George, came from one of Tracy’s early suggestions: maybe this will work if it’s part of a series of plays that do the same thing thematically, but in different contexts.

I write about political violence. I write about the things that people can’t articulate. The point where words fail and we resort to action. My characters don’t know what they’re saying and can’t say what they’re doing. I am dumbfounded by the process Tracy and her actors have gone through to bring these words together with such intensity and perfect expression of the inexpressible.

Directors Notes. Tracy Doyle
I have once again had an amazing time directing with Insurgent Theatre. I have been blessed with four of the most talented and easy to work with actors in Milwaukee and an incredible stage crew. With their’s and Ben’s help, I have brought to life the
stories of four people in desperate situations, each struggling to be happy and live their lives to the fullest. Sometimes being well off isn’t everything it is cracked up to be. Sometimes everyone wants to feel like a victim. Sometimes we all want to wallow in self pity. These stories are about what happens when the rich and powerful finally get what they want.
