Writer's Notes. John Manno
One is generally considered to be insane when one cannot integrate oneself successfully into one's culture. But what if that culture is itself insane?

This is the question that continually nags me. Especially when I think too much about what this, and other cultures, do with human beings.

Everybody knows what happened to the Native Americans, but no one seems too eager to make any kinds of retributions; ditto the African slaves. Our tennis shoes are made with rubber that enslaves populations. Cinnamon and nutmeg inspired the destruction of whole civilizations, to say nothing of what's been done for gold and diamonds; and look what we do just to get gas for our cars. All of this is (or was) normal. All of this is nothing more than the background for every single one of our middle class lives.

Directors Notes. Mike Q Hanlon
What do you care about? Why do you? Cured touches on a lot of hot issues (class, religion, race, family, love), but it uses them to address a universal idea. Lots of people, especially in today’s social climate, have causes that they work for. There are many reasons why people might fight for a cause, and it’s not always because they want to change the world. Sometimes it’s just to change something about their own selves.

What are you working for? What do you believe in? And why?
